I think this book is about two men. About Mitch Albom, the author of this book, and his teacher professor Morrie Schwartz. And about their friendship, love and the meaning of life.... In the late spring of 1979, there were a graduation ceremony. Mitch Albom were graduated from Brandeis University. He found Morrie Schwartz, his favorite professor, and he handed his professor a present, a tan briefcase with his initials on the front. He didn't want to forget his professor. The professor asked if Mitch would stay in touch, and Mitch said, "Of course." I think Mitch loves his professor very much. And at this point I remembered my favorite teacher Ms. Wang who taught me when I was elementary school student. I still keep in touch with her. She is very kind and very good teacher and I love her very much. In 1994, Morrie got Lou Gehrig's disease. He couldn't drive his car, he couldn't walk freely, he couldn't undress himself. Morrie's doctors guessed he had two years left. Morrie was intent on proving that the word 'dying' was not synonymous with 'useless' He was joined in his home by a small group of friends and family for a 'living funeral.' His 'living funeral' was a rousing success. In my thought, Morrie is very brave because he made death his final project, he walked that final bridge between life and death, and narrated the trip. Mitch's dream was to be a famous musician. But after graduation, his dream soured. And his favorite uncle died of pancreatic cancer at the age of forty-four. After his uncle's funeral, Mitch felt as if time were suddenly precious. He earned a master's degree in journalism and took the first job offered, as a sports writer. And he took a job in Detroit as a columnist, he was penning columns, writing sports books, doing radio shows and appearing regularly on TV. He did everything, he made more money than he had ever figured to see. One night, Mitch saw a TV program. Because of the TV program, he got to know about Morrie's illness. Then Mitch visited Morrie's home and he could visit Morrie fourteen times on Tuesdays. On Tuesdays, Mitch and Morrie talked about life and love and death and money and marriage and forgiveness. And they talked about family.... Morrie's mother was dead when Morrie was 8 years old. Morrie's younger brother David had polio. His father died because of heart attack. Morrie's mother died seventy years ago, but Morrie was so lonely and his pain still went on. At this point I think that I have to thank my parents because they still live with me. Mitch also has younger brother. Mitch's brother suffers from pancreatic cancer. Mitch's brother doesn't want Mitch around. After Morrie's death, Mitch could call his brother and had a long talk and said, " I don't want to lose you. I love you." Mitch loves his brother very much. I can feel Mitch's love for his brother. Mitch, the writer of this book, wrote like this: This book is dedicated to my brother, Peter, the bravest person I know. I think Morrie is one of the bravest person I know. Morrie is very brave because he made death his final project, he walked that final bridge between life and death, and narrated the trip. Of Morrie's aphorisms, I like this most : Forgive yourself, Forgive others. I think forgiveness is the greatest expression for love. And Morrie said, "Everything dies." As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love we created is still there. All the memories are still there. We live in the hearts of everyone we have touched. I really agree with Morrie's. I think love is the most import value in the world. I think this book is very interesting and impressive. Due to this book, I newly think the meaning of life and love and death and money and marriage and forgiveness. Thank you, Morrie and thank you, Mitch. .

Reflection:
'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4' is written by Sue Townsend.
It focuses on the worries and regrets of a teenager who believes himself to be an intellectual. The book is written in a diary style. This book starts with Adrian Mole's New Year's resolutions. He decided not to start smoking, not to drink alcohol and to stop squeezing his spots. I can guess his age from this word 'spots'. He was aged 13 3/4.
He bought his mother the green lurex apron for Christmas. But she didn't wear the apron. Later, she fell in love with Mr. Lucas who lived their next door. Mr.Lucas gave Adrian's mother a lift everyday and they worked at the same place. Adrian fell in love with Pandora. There appeared the dog which had got the same colour eyes as Pandora. When I read this , I smiled.
Adrian wrote some poems like 'Blossom' . Adrian read lots of books like 'Animal Farm', ' War and Peace', 'Madame Bovary', 'Waiting for Godot' to increase his knowledge. Adrian wanted to be a vet while he read 'Animal Farm'. But later he changed his mind about becoming a vet and tried writing situation comedy for TV. It was when Adrian watched 'The Bug-Eyed Monster Strikes Back'. Adrian cried when Boxer was taken to the vet's in the book 'Animal Farm'. And he boycotted pork of all kinds when he finished 'Animal Farm'. Actually I read 'Animal Farm' in English, I think it is interesting.
Adrian's parents didn't care for him and Adrian's grandma was quite pleased that Adrian's parents were getting a divorce. After all, his mother came back to his father and his father got a job.
This book is interesting for me because Adrian is around the same age as me.

Global warming

Nowadays , we are in danger because of global warming . CO2 ( carbon dioxide ) makes the earth ' s surface hotter . So , melted icebergs level up the sea level by 23cm for 100 years. Then , what can we do to prevent it ?

First , in our house , we have to recycle the garbages , and use eco - friendly commodities . we must not waste electric power . Because we have to use coal to make electricity . So , CO2 is made .

Second , I have to take bus or subway instead of car , take a walk or ride bicycle for a short distance . And put on inner - wear in winter to warm instead of turning on the boiler switch .

Third , our government have to make street for bicycles . Because the citizens can ride bicycles easily and safely through this street . And our government have to plant trees . This can help decrease CO2 emission.

To conclude , There are many solutions against grobal warming . We ( house , government , private person ) have duties against global warming . So , we have to do our effort to prevent global warming .

Building Green

Title : High school English

Author : 이찬승 외

Publisher & Year : 능률교육, 2009

Vocabularies : sustainable - able to be used without damaging the environment
architect - a person who designs buildings
damage - to cause harm or loss to someone or something
solar - relating to the Sun

Summary : The goal of sustainable development is to balance the needs of people with the protection of nature. For example, many architects and builders have been working to come up with new ways to construct buildings. The buildings need to be economical and safe for the health of the people who use them, but they need to be safe for the environment at the same time. The bigger the windows are, the greener the building is. Green roof blocks more of the sun's heat than a regular roof, so it keeps the building cooler in summer. In winter, the plants and soil on the roof help keep hear inside the building from escaping. Green buildings use as little fresh water as possible, and they usually reuse water as well. Althiough bamboo looks like wood, it's actually a grass, not a tree, and it grows 20 times faster than most trees. Some builders have been reusing old mateials just as they are but in new, creative ways. Slowly but surely, the buildings where we study, sleep, and work are becoming healthier and greener.

Comment : I have already read this story before mid-term exam. But I couldn't remember the details. So, I read one more time. This story is about 'building green'! There are a lot of unique buildings and facilities. My favorite building is what have an entire rooftop garden, with thick grass and colorful flowers. Rooftop garden makes the building cooler in summer and keeps heat inside the building from escaping in winter. My father is and architect. So, I want him to make green building with green caterials like bamboo. And I want to live in the building! I wnat many green buildings will be built in the future to protect the environment.

Is Art Art?

'Four Minutes and Thirty Three Seconds' is composed by famous pianist. I have heard about this composition in TV program. At first, I was puzzled but now, I think it is one of the art.

First, all of the sound can make musics. I mean that the audience's caughing sound, creaking of chairs, rustlin pamplet will compose music during four minutes and thiry three seconds.

Second, four minutes and thirty three seconds' silence is kind of rest(pause). I can define four minutes and thirty three second as a rest(not a quarter rest of half rest. It will be four minutes and thirty three rest!). It will be a play.

Third, art is the action that performed by artist. The pianist is one of artist. The composition was composed by the pianist for four minutes and thirty three seconds, so I can say this is an art.

All of the sound can make musics, four minutes and thirty three seconds silence is kind of rest and the composition was performed by the pianist. So, I think It is an art!
